ICACC’s vision is a community where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people are recognised and respected as the first Australians and have equality in health, wellbeing, education and employment opportunities. ICACC supports the movement for Constitutional Recognition of Australia’s first people.

The founding documents of Australia were created without Indigenous input or acknowledgement and the nation created a history of exclusion and discrimination towards Indigenous people. The campaign to Recognise proposes to fix the historical exclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples from Australia’s Constitution, and to remove discrimination – such as the section of Australia’s Constitution that says people can be banned from voting based on race.

Develop a Reconciliation Action Plan

A Reconciliation Action Plan is a tool to help organisations build positive relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.  The term Reconciliation Action Plan is a Trademark of Reconciliation Australia.

Reconciliation Australia has an Online Hub with templates and resources to download that will help to develop and report on your plan: hppt://

There’s even a special framework for schools wanting to develop a School Reconciliation Action Plan:

Want to hold an event that reflects Indigenous perspectives but don’t know where to start or who to contact?

Take time to introduce yourself to the local Aboriginal community. If you’re unsure about an issue relating to the Aboriginal population, you may wish to contact Aboriginal organisations, legal services or the local reconciliation group in your area.
