Reconciliation Australia is an independent, national not-for-profit organisation promoting reconciliation by building relationships. It has online resources to help develop a Reconciliation Action Plan.
Aboriginal Victoria is a key agency that provides advice to the Victorian Government on Aboriginal policy. It has many useful resources including protocols for recognising traditional owners.
Reconciliation Victoria is working towards just and respectful relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people. The website has local reconciliation group news, events and resources, as well as a list of local reconciliation groups.
Maggolee is a joint project between Reconciliation Victoria, the Municipal Association of Victoria, the Office of Aboriginal Affairs Victoria and Local Government Victoria. Meaning “here in this place” the Maggolee site provides information on how Councils engage with the Aboriginal community, as well as information on Traditional Owners and Aboriginal organisations, key contacts, demographic data and services.
Victorian Aboriginal Education Association Inc provides advice on Koorie education issues, monitors education trends and advocates for the needs of the community. It has valuable resources for educators and teachers to use to enhance learning, as well as useful info for parents and carers.
At the local level Learning Stones provides a living local resource for South Gippsland to assist and provide a better cultural understanding and a place to start for teachers in their delivery of indigenous content. See also the Learning Stones Facebook page.
